Taste and See that the Lord is Good…

These words have filled my head all morning.  When we started our Kickstarter Campaign on Friday, I was excited, but also a little bit discouraged.  We had made and posted on Facebook, what I thought was a very impacting video.  But it did not have the desired effect.  I figured we would get a positive response.  I figured people would watch it, and share it.  Or at least “like” it.  But that didn’t happen.  We could tell from our stats that people were watching it.  But there was almost no sharing.  And only a few people even “liked” it!  I was VERY discouraged!  And I was confused. How could our Christian friends and family, people that we have known for years, people that know our hearts and the desire behind the birth of this company, not even “like” our video?  If THESE people wouldn’t even support us by telling others, how in the world were we going to raise $7,000?

Don’t get me wrong, I know that the Lord led us here.  I know this company will make a difference in the world.  I know that the Lord will fund us, according to His good and perfect will.  But sometimes, even when I know that the path I am on is the right path, my confidence, and yes, my faith in my choice, wavers.

So, I’m sorry to say, I did start our campaign slightly discouraged and confused; but I was excited as well, because it was finally here, and I COULDN’T WAIT to see what the Lord would do.  The day started with a little bit of chaos at home.  I had a conference that I had to be at, so Lizzie was watching all 5 of my kiddos and trying to deal with breakfast, when her dog decided to walk right out the window into the wet, misty, rain-threatening morning.  And…so it went for her here on the homefront.

Around noon, there was still not much Facebook activity, and she sat down, and prayed, “God, please just give us one pledge today.  Just one.”

And then it happened.  Our first pledge, just minutes after her prayer.  For $1,000!!!!  But wait!  There’s more!  After that pledge, our generous supporter contacted Lizzie and told her that in addition to the original pledge amount, he was offering to match the next pledges, up to ANOTHER $1,000!  The level of generosity and support that he and his wife were showing to our cause brought us both to tears and left us in awe the rest of the day.  Gone was the discouragement.  Completely.  Who cares whether people like our cause and our video!  I knew, again, in that moment, that my God, the Creator of all the Earth and everything in it, was leading this charge.  End Day 1.

Day 2 began with nothing but continued praise, and awe at the Lord and his ways.  And as the day progressed, I became increasingly impressed by this pledge to match more donations.  I love the small glimpse it gives me of how God uses our gifts.  He multiplies the seed we sow.  2 Corinthians 9:10-11 says “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and MULTIPLY your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.  You will be enriched in every way, which through us will produce thanksgivings to God.”  Very seldom do we get to see the ways that our God multiplies our gifts directly, but today we do.  With this pledge, we see our small donations double, and that vision continued to inspire me all day and into the night.  And we did receive a “small” donation, as well.  My 8 year old son brought us all the money he had.  $2.22 in change.  Which inspired his 2 sisters to give some of their change.  When you TRIPLE the amount of their combined efforts, it comes to a grand total of $9.06.  $9.06!  From $2.22, and a heart willing to give all he had to someone he felt needed it more.  And those of you who know Joshua and money, know this is a big deal for him!

As I prayed last night, I thanked the Lord for His provision and for speaking to me throughout the day.  And for the hearts of my children.

With Day 3 (today) came more mind-blowing news.  We have ANOTHER supporter who is willing to match all donations up to $1,000, making every pledge TRIPLE in amount.  And with that news, all I can think is “Taste and see that the Lord is good.  Blessed is the man who goes to him for safety.”  Psalm 34:8  Because the Lord is good.  And we only need a mere taste of his greatness to know that truth.

  1. Wow, God is working, isn’t He? I am so proud of both of you. When you plan a trip to Houston someday, I want to hear all about it IN PERSON!

Isn’t it amazing?! This weekend has been so….WOW! I’m struggling with finding enough words (and the right words) to accurately describe all this. And that’s torture (as I’m sure you know!) for someone who writes so much!

I can’t wait to tell you everything in person. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being so involved and supportive! :)

This is really upfiitlng *sigh* I dont like that I have this problem and I try to keep things in perspective because I know the world doesn’t revovle around myself but at times I just get the feeling that everyone is looking at me and judging me for my every mistake, it makes it hard to even interact with people without being even in the least anxious. This is upfiitlng though and I will def turn my problems to the Lord because at this point he is the only one that can help me. Thanks for the post and your helping people like us by just talking about your situations and giving us all courage.

I am so glad you visited and are encouraged! I pray that the Lord will continue to encourage and strengthen you as you seek after him. It is hard to feel like people are watching and judging our choices, but the more I choose to follow him against the grain, the more I see his hand in my life. I hope you check back in with us soon, I will be posting a little more of my journey in the next few days.
